Picture someone who is always trying to make others laugh or uplift them while teaching them the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Picture somebody who makes it his goal to give all glory to God in everything he does; someone who rarely says no when he sees another in need. Picture a self-less person who is willing to let others go first just to make that person feel better… a winner.
Meet Trant, a 31 year old from Huntsville, Alabama, a follower of Christ. He is not a rapper or singer, but a music producer, a songwriter, and a businessman. Trant has worked with several artists like Dee-1, Braille, Dre Murray, John Givez, Yaves, and more. Trant didn't go to church often as a child because his family didn't have steady transportation. Despite these circumstances, Trant's mother would have church at their home, with the determination that he, along with his brothers, was raised to be a child of God's word. She often filled their home with the music of Rev. James Cleveland, Shirley Caesar, and other gospel greats. During his youth, Trant heard that still, small voice within him and in 1998 he was baptized and joined the church.
Despite his early upbringing, the teenage years were a period where Trant found himself in trouble. His parents were no longer together and he was yet another youth growing up in home that was now broken. At one point, Trant was failing nearly every class in school as he found himself cutting classes to chase girls, worldly pleasures, and the approval of friends. We often hear the stories of a praying grandmamma and thank God for them. It was at this stage in life that Trant remembered his grandmother's prayers and her taking the time to tell him that she wanted him to graduate from high school and make something of his life. This caused Trant to get himself on track and he finished school on time, graduating in 2002.
In 2003, Trant, along with a good friend, started Bug Out Entertainment. This was a secular label that got off to a great start. At one point they savored a possible deal with Atlantic Records, but Trant could not keep his group on the same page and eventually Atlantic pulled out of the deal. Shortly thereafter Trant pulled away entirely from the music industry.
Nine years later Trant was trying to find both God and his purpose for life. He started attending church more often and opened his home to bible study groups. Trant reconnected with some of the positive influences from his youth and later joined Heaven Bound ministries. Following this path of revival, Trant eagerly filled himself with God's. His only desire was this: that everything he did in life would bring glory to God.
Trant desired to consecrate himself out of devotion to God. He realized that his love for music had been turned into a stronghold of the enemy. He remembered reading about another person's struggle on Facebok and how they threw away all of their secular music and this struck a cord with Trant. He stopped listening to the same old music and watched as his playlists and music collection grew smaller and smaller. A friend soon introduced Trant to the music of Lecrae. This set Trant on another path where his love for music and love for God were brought together.
One day after watching a video of DJ Kjaled collaborating with another artist, Trant thought to himself how awesome it would be to bring together different talent within the Christian Hip-Hop genre. Trant reached out to Taelor Gray who provided him with direction to aid in his vision. Soon after, with God's help, Trant saw his vision realized in B.I.G. F.I.S.H. Muzik (Believers in God faithful in serving Him). Now coming March 31 2015 Trant will release his first EP titled A Ram In The Bush, his first of many collaboration.
